Shocking Graphic of U.S. Unemployment
Latoya Egwuekwe has posted an excellent video of the nation’s rising unemployment between January ’07 and September ’09. The video shows the color coded unemployment rate for every county in the U.S. in that span, and the transformation from 4.6% unemployment in 2007 to the start of the recession in 2008 and the darkening abyss of 8%+ unemployment in 2009 is startling to say the least. It’s since gotten worse in October and November, and today’s unemployment rate of 10.2% has certainly added more purple and black to the map.
