The LinkUp Blog The Industry's Best-Kept Secret

Sometimes it’s the small things

LinkUp is a very innovative company with really smart people and top-notch products. However, up until last week we failed miserably when it came to highly caffeinating our employees.  Our coffee sucked.

One would think after 10+ years building the best job search engine on the web someone in the office would have addressed our horrible, burnt tasting, coffee. Nope. Of course we all complained about it (me especially), but no one actually did anything. It took a 2 hour brainstorming meeting (which should be a post in itself because it was awesome) and a new employee to call us out on our horrible coffee situation.PicCollage

Without coming across as a high-maintenance coffee snob, I have only had half a dozen or so cups of “office” coffee in the 10 years that I have worked here. Yup, I’m that girl that shows up with her own travel mug filled with Starbucks dark roast, but the coffee here was flat out bad. The kind of bad where no matter what you do you can’t get rid of that tar taste out of your mouth!

So the new girl, Aly, who supports our Sales team, called us out and suggested we buy a Keurig. Brilliant! While most people came to the meeting with new product and advertising ideas, Aly kept it pretty basic. She recognized that we weren’t “properly” caffeinating the employees. She was right.

Not even 20 minutes after the meeting we purchased a Keurig and a plethora of flavored k-cups. Sometimes it’s the most obvious, simplistic idea that can do the unthinkable for a company. For us, it was solving our coffee problem.

(By the way – Keurig, part of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc., currently has 141 open jobs on LinkUp.com).
